WINTER 2006 - Computer update!

Over the last 6 months we have invested heavily in new
computer aided design software to enable us to produce
plans and design proposals faster and more efficiently.

Using both Vectorworks 12 for landscapers and Sketchup
programmes we can now produce 3d sketched design
proposals showing how your garden will be transformed.

Sketchup enables us to incorporate photographs and even
allows you to 'walk around' the site with us on the computer.
Its advanced detailing produces realistic views and even
tracks daylight showing where most sun and shade will fall
throughout the year - very helpful in planning planting.

Vectorworks 12 produces full final construction plans in
2d showing detailed construction drawings of the whole
garden and of specific features. It plots planting accurately
and to scale on the plan, incorporating an extensive database
of species, and gives a complete listing of plants required for
more accurate costing.

The programmes allow us to quickly manage changes and
alterations to
schemes and even supply detailed information
to landscapers on quantities and types of material required.
This makes for quicker costing and a more efficient service
to you.

Naturally, we will continue to draw sketch plans and proposals
by hand where we believe hand drawing gives the finer option
of the two. We can then scan into the computer these drawings
to give more accurate information to landscapers on volumes
and areas of construction materials and plants.

Our aim is to give customers the best design schemes and
landscapers the most accurate detailing possible

WINTER ADVICE - so what do you do in
winter? .... Decorating? .... No, winter work
Many people think we stop work in winter so
here's what we do!

While the weather is still good planting can go on
as the soil temperatures are still warm so we
continue to plant schemes up to Christmas.

After the leaves have fallen and the trees are
dormant the winter planting and pruning can begin.

Bareroot trees and roses can go in throughout the
winter in milder spells and most winer pruning
begins in late January and throughout Feburary.

We prune rose gardens and orchards around the
region, and of course, we continue planning
gardens with customers for 2007!
